Colonia de Sacramento (Uruguay)
Buenos Aires, Argentina to Colonia, Uruguay

Duration: 7 hours (min)
Frequency: daily, year-round

Departure from the hotel to the pier to board a catamarán that will take us to Colonia del Sacramento city, sailing through the Río de la Plata, the widest estuary in the world. The catamaran departs from the pier at 11.00 a.m., arriving at Colonia Del Sacramento after a 1hr trip. We will visit the main historic points of this town, a picturesque small colonial city that was originated as a portuguese military bastion during the XVII century. During those years this uprising town was disputed by the Spaniards and the Portuguese, since due to its location it is a strategic privileged point, whose influence can still be appreciated in its architectonic characteristics as well as in its interesting museums. We will appreciate its historic main points that still sep the defensive wall with its gate. We will walk around its old streets, with its white wall colonial style houses that are typically Spanish, and its stone made houses that show a typically Portuguese influence. We will also appreciate the lighthouse, the main square, the Portuguese Museum, the Spanish Museum, the Colonial Museum, the Yates Pier and the Bulls Square, which at present has closed its doors since bull rides have been forbidden in the area of the Río de la Plata and, at the same time, this building runs the risk of falling down. Once the excursion is finished, transfer to the Pier and then in Buenos Aires transfer to the Hotel. * Tour may exceed 7 hours depending on Hydrofoil schedule that day.
